SIGNS YOUR HORSE MAY BENEFIT FROM PHYSIO:

  • Behavioural issues – napping, rearing, bucking, cold-backed, resenting tack, etc.

  • Schooling issues – lack of bend, reluctance to engage, reduced outline, disunited canter

  • Refusing fences/loading

  • Lameness

  • Temperament changes – such as increased aggression

  • Wide range of musculoskeletal issues

  • Spinal pain or pelvic dysfunction

  • Reduced performance

Like any human athlete, horses are susceptible to sprains, strains and aches, and can even manage to get injured in the field! As prey animals, horses are naturally programmed to ‘hide’ any pain. Natural recovery is often hampered by compensatory mechanisms and continued work, leading to chronic issues. Prevention is better than cure. Regular maintenance physio sessions help identify and address minor issues, restoring optimal function and performance.

Physiotherapy is suitable for most horses and ponies, from happy hackers to elite competition horses.

Pre and post-season checks provide an ideal opportunity to identify and address any minor issues, as well as providing peace of mind that there are no background niggles affecting your horse’s performance.

Improving comfort, posture, flexibility and core strength will enhance performance and function in measurable ways.

Under vet consent, I will conduct a thorough assessment of your horse and formulate a personalised treatment plan. Assessments are usually completed at your yard. Please contact me for more details.
